The 12th Annual Big Sioux Riders Campout will be on Mother's Day weekend in 2015 (May 8-10). We are going to start on Friday again this year for everyone who wants to come a day early. The location will be the Fort Randall Creek Recreation Area SD State Campground (near Pickstown, South Dakota) again this year. We are still working on options for a Friday dinner. There will be a cook out again Saturday evening at the camp ground of brats, campfire beans with chips and desert. Free, hot coffee will be provided the whole weekend. This is a low key, low cost get together and a good time for everyone to get out and get their tires warmed out. All Friends and fellow riders are welcome. We'll be posting more details in comments or below as we get them.

Big Sioux Riders Update - March 11th
The 2015 Jones'n Party is in the books. It was a great party, just wish I could have stayed longer for the movies. I heard they were good.
I received an email from Mary Hawes of the Autobahn Riders in Sioux Falls. The Autobahn is hosting a ride-in to Martinsburg, NE for noon this Saturday (March 14th). All Big Sioux Riders and friends are welcome. If you want any further details contact dalenordlie@sio.midco.net .
Bak BMW's Open House on March 28th. Pencil that date in on your calenders. The annual spring open house is now officially the last Saturday in March every year.
The monthly meeting is normally the third Tuesday, but Pres. Terry has requested that we move it from St. Patty's Day (Feb 17th) to Tuesday, Feb 24th. Right now we are planning on a ride. Meet at the Gordon HyVee at 6 PM if the weather looks good. I'll send an alternative out if we are not riding later.
If anyone wants to ride with Jim near Jasper, Arkansas in April contact him (jimj@urbaninc.com). The dates he is going there will be April 22-26 according to my BSR Calender.

BSR Meeting Wednesday, November 12th
Meeting:
We have a Big Sioux Riders meeting this Wednesday, November 12th at 6 PM. The location is Bak BMW. Dave will be cooking, so bring a few dollars to chip in for the food. We will be discussing the meal at the Christmas Party December. Jim Johnson will be bring a menu from Trattoria Fresco (Italian) so let him know what your interested in or show up at the meeting. We will decide on the menu before the end of the meeting.
Christmas Party:
The Big Sioux Rider Christmas Party will be at the Pierce Mansion in Sioux City again this year. It will be in the evening of Friday, December 12. We are hoping this allows more of the out-of-towners to come. If you haven't seen the mansion, its worth coming just to see the home and the displays. We don't have a specific time yet, but I'll post it when we get one. Please send me an email RSVP to let me know if you are coming and if you are bringing anyone with you. Spouses, kids, a fellow rider or just a friend are all good. Meal is included with your membership renewal. You can bring another person with a family membership, and there will be a nominal fee to cover our costs for any additional folks you bring along.
As in past years, bring a desert, snacky food, or beverage with you to the party. The club will have a coffee pot and some soda. There will also be a gift exchange following the meal which uses the same stealing and keeper rules we have used in the past. I promise to remember and state the rules more clearly this year, I may even write them down. Figure spending on $10 - $20 for a gift, unless you find something really cool for a lot less, hehe.
Please send you Big Johnson award nominations to Jim (jimj@urban-inc.com). He and last year's winners (Terry Hughes, Steve Martin, and runners-up Jim Hawthorne) will form this years nomination committee. Submissions I'm aware of so far:
- Jim Johnson (award namesake) for forcing all his riding buddies to listen to Helen Reddy songs at 130db at every traffic stop between I-35E and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul. Some believe it was some kind of ritualized punishment of his friends who had working BMWs for the past 6 weeks (vs. Jim and his shinny new 2014 R1200RT which had reverted back to garage queen status for several weeks prior to the rally).
- South Sioux City Sue, whom after living in Sioux City for years and years (and then even more years), had to ask for directions to Miles for Stan Stille's moving away party. The shame of living a sheltered life she claimed. Meanwhile, nearly every 6 year old in Sioux City (and probably South Sioux too) can tell you Miles is the place they make Charlie Boy sandwiches which is just up the street from the famous Tire Man.
- Brion Hase..... hopefully no one can remember why. I can't remember the details either, but I do remember it would have given me a strong chance to win if anyone else remembered it. Luckily I don't remember and didn't write it down either...
Calenders:
We need photos for the Club Calender. Please send any photos you want to include to Steve Martin (stevem@pacificcitygraphics.com).

2014 Big Johnson Award Nominations Rolling In
The riding year is past half over and we already have two Big Johnson Award nominations. The Big Johnson is the annual Big Sioux Rider club award for the a club member or rider who has the biggest faux pas or crazy motorcycle related experience during the year, hopefully one in which no one was permanently injured.
1. Jim Johnson (award namesake) for forcing all his riding buddies to listen to Helen Reddy songs at 130db at every traffic stop between I-35E and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul. Some believe it was some kind of ritualized punishment of his friends who had working BMWs for the past 6 weeks (vs. Jim and his shinny new 2014 R1200RT which had reverted back to garage queen status for several weeks prior to the rally).
2. South Sioux City Sue, whom after living in Sioux City for years and years, had to ask for directions to Miles for Stan Stille's moving away party. The shame of living a sheltered life... "she" claimed. Meanwhile, nearly every 6 year old in town can tell you its the place they make Charlie Boy sandwiches which is just up the street from the famous Tire Man.

Lunch with the Kids at Crittenton Center Youth Shelter
Its been almost a year since the Big Sioux Riders last ride-in to the Crittenton Center Youth Shelter. Sunday, April 6th the group is scheduled deliver and serve pizza to the kids, and talk to them about motorcycles and motorcycle travel. The time will be 12 noon. The staff is estimating they will have between 17 and 25 kids. You're welcome to bring any motorcycle stuff that would interest them. The idea is just to get them talking about motorcycles and to get their minds off more troubling things for an hour or two. It has turned out to be a pretty good time for everyone during past visits.
We decided last year to give the staff a break and not bring soda with both sugar and caffeine in them anymore. The staff has suggested bringing Sprite, Fanta, root beer and other non-caffeinated beverages. The pizza and soda will be served from the pavilion building in the front lawn area. We pay for the pizza and soda with money from our club treasury.
The address is 3901 Green Avenue, Sioux City, IA. Directions: take the Martha street exit near the Gordon Drive HyVee and head north, after you go around the 90 degree corner near HyVee, the street name changes to Green Ave. The Center is just past the church on the north side of the street.
Also, please consider the following during your travels this summer - its something we have discussed at a few of the club meetings regarding the next Pizza Party. I spoke to one of the staff members at the Center and she liked the idea and said it would be fine. If you already have a lot of motorcycle event t-shirts in the closet and don't need anymore, pick an appropriate small, medium or kid sized t-shirt at different events. If everyone could pick up 2 or 3 t-shirts, we would have enough to hand one out to each kid at the next Pizza party. Getting a cool motorcycle t-shirt will be a big deal to the kids. Plus knowing how many places some of you visit every year (self included), you can't wear them all anyways :)
